Calendar for 2009...

I hope everyone had great Holidays and that 2009 is wonderful for you.

Well... this Holiday Season was a bit hard for me due to losing my daddy in September. I lost my mom 8 years ago and still miss her terribly. When daddy died, the sadness was overwhelming that both were gone. When I am sad, I become very quiet and so I have not posted for awhile or chatted on any boards much. With the help of God, family and friends I have gotten through this and hope to be scrappin' my heart out soon.

I did design and create a CD calendar for my daughter for a gift. It was fun doing this and I am happy that it turned out so well. I was going to do the entire calendar on my Cricut, but it broke (got a replacement last week). The month of May was done using the Cricut and the rest were designed by me using my Pazzles. Below are pictures of the calendar.

Here are pictures of how the CD calendar goes together. You take the top and bottom of the CD case apart, flip the top over and put back together. This allows the CD case to stand on it's own. My little Daisy (dog) just has to be a part of everything I do so she ended up in the picture too.

And here is a closeup of the one I found the hardest to design and yet turned out to be my favorite.

The LONGest Month

I finally set some time aside to scrap some pages. I am working on my 2008 album and am all the way up to February. I plan to be caught up by at least 2015… LOL! I always assumed that when I retired, I would have time to do whatever I want. Wow!!! Don’t know how I found time to work for all those years.

The first picture is a statement of how I feel about the month of February! I find it to be the LONGest month due to the weather we have in Michigan. I get “houseitosis (my word for closed in feeling)” for the entire month. I’m certainly glad there are less days in this month. I love March and April (my favorite months of the year and figure my anticipation of those months coming is why February seems sooooooo LONG.

For this layout I used my Pazzles and the Amienne font to create the words. I then used the Cricut and the Accent Essentials cartridge to cut the Snowflakes. I ran the Snowflakes through my Xyron and used sprinkled glitter on them to match the paper. The paper is from the DCWV Christmas stack.

Happy Birthday Daisy Mae

The second layout I worked on for February is of our little dog Daisy Mae. Now, you have to understand… she is one spoiled dog so I tend to take tons of pics of her. These were taken before the rusty eye look was taken care of using Angel Eyes. She loves Bully Bones and for her birthday she got a bunch of them. She also got some stuffed toys. We over spoil this dog and have paid for it as she is thinks she is Queen of the house now.

Page 1 of the layout is of Daisy sitting under a stool my Grandmother gave me. She thinks of it as her dog house and tends to hide her bones and toys under it. The second pic is of her indicating she does not want me taking any more pics of her and just wants to sleep. Good thing I can’t understand her growl that she does every time I get the camera out. I do think she is swearing at me in her own language. The second page is pics of Daisy and my hubby with her Bully bone.

I used paper that I bought at JoAnn’s and my Pazzles to create the cut files. The concept of the Daisy Dog came from one of Arts 4 Crafts files... http://www.art4crafts.com/. I did ask permission to use her files to create paper piecing and she said OK. I drew the design as vector pieces in Paint Shop Pro and altered to look like a Bichon. I then chalked the dog cuts. The font used was Impressed BT Regular.

Here is a close up of the dog cut.

Here is a pic of the second page of the layout.

Christmas Cards

I've making some Christmas cards for friends and family. All of the pieced files were designed and drawn by me using my Pazzles Inspiration machine. I LOVE my Pazzles!!! Below are 4 pictures of cards I made yesterday. The paper used for the background was from the DCWV Christmas stack.

The first one is a Deer Journal tag that I stamped and used a glitter gel pen to enhance. I got a little carried away using my stickles glitter on the bird and antlers. Learning as I go.

The next one is my favorite as I love bears. I used Diamond Dust on the fur of the hat and stickles on the words, leaves and berries. The lights I found at Hobby Lobby in the Christmas section. The font used was Brush Script.

The next two are using a snowman that I think is so cute and happy looking. I tried a couple of different effects for the snow. For the first one I used glitter and basically painted it on. The font used was Abracadabra.

For this one I used Delta's Decorative Snow and painted it on. Not sure that I like either one... but, the decorative snow looks more textured.

Thanks for looking.

Winter Wonder What !?!

I’ve had some time lately to finally get some actual scrapping finished. I am trying to get my 2008 album finished. As you can tell by the date, I’m pretty far behind. People are always saying about Michigan weather… “If you don’t like it today, stick around – it will change”. The following layout shows exactly how much it can change in 5 days here in January… ya just never know.

The first picture was taken of my husband snowblowing our drive on January 2nd, 2008. It is a simple layout, but I thought the pictures spoke for themselves. I used the Stencil font with my Pazzles and cut on full 12 x 12 sheet as a negative cut and the snowflakes were created using the Flakey font.

The second page of the layout was taken on January 7, 2008 and the temp was 70 degrees. You can see my husband raking leaves in our front yard. The leaves were designed by me on my Pazzles.

Thank you for looking.

Happy Sunday...

It has been a very busy week around here this week so have not had much time to design or create anything - I'm having withdrawals big-time! My hubby's mom has been in the hospital for a week now and hopes to be released tomorrow. She is 80 and is one of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever met and I'm so very happy that she is doing so well and will be home with Ron's dad soon. I have been truly blessed to have such wonderful in-laws.

As our grandchildren (Erica & Jake) are too old (almost 13 & 16) to want to be with grandma and poppy on Halloween, we dressed up our dog (Daisy Mae) and went trick-or-treating to the neighbors. We all had a great time. Daisy is a 10.5 lb. Bichon Frise and is just the sweetest little girl. Here is a picture of our little gal all dressed up as a Fairy. Happy Day!!!

Cut File - Accordion Christmas Card Template

I have had a couple of emails regarding the folding and size of the Accordion folded card posted at the following link. http://www.brensdesigns.com/2008/10/another-christmas-card.html

I have created a CUT file template in both Plantin Schoolbook and George that may help.

Here is the picture of the CUT file.

Accordion Fold Christmas Card

Someone from the Cricut Message Board posted a link to directions for doing an accordion type card. I loved the concept so decided to use my new Christmas Solutions cartridge and create the card. Here is a link for the directions.

Here are pictures of my card... It was really fun to do. Love this new cartridge.

Here is an side view of the card. The card is 5 inches wide; therefore, the cuts are small. This one fits in an envelope that I had on hand that is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks for looking.

Cut File - Pop-up Christmas Card

It is again cold today and has been raining all day. I have been working on creating my Christmas cards. Below you will find pictures of my Popup Christmas card and envelope. I was inspired to try designing this card by Susan Blue Robot (her blog link is down of this page) from the Cricut Board. I designed the card using the Cricut Design Studio and below you will find the picture of the cut file. You will also find the cut file using George, Jasmine and Accent Essentials and the one using Plantin Schoolbook, Jasmine and Accent Essentials. I used the Christmas DCWV Glitter stack to create the card.

Here is the Front of the card. I cut 4 snow flakes and layered them with pop-dots. The card measures 3 x 7.75 closed.

Here is a side view of the front of the card. I wish the white core did not show through the DCWV paper when you score and fold it... but, I love this paper so decided it would be OK for this one.

Here is the inside of the card.

Pazzles or Cricut Expression...

I have been asked today in a comment left on my blog which machine I prefer... the Cricut Expression or the Pazzles. I love them both equally. I know that is not a fair statement as you probably think I would like one over the other. To me, the machines are totally different in how they can be used.

The Cricut is cartridge based and while you can design with Design Studio, it is... and probably always will be... a cartridge based system. I have over 40 cartridges that can be used with the Cricut. The cuts are all designed by Provo Craft and I love the simplicity of using the Cricut by just popping in a cartridge, selecting the object to be cut, and cutting files to use to make a quick card or layout.

The Pazzles allows me to create (draw) my own designs in a vector type format. I love designing my own projects and being able to use any font that is available. The free font and dingbat files that are available all over the internet makes it really easy to create unique titles and cuts.  It is also very easy to import clipart and have the program trace the image to allow cutting.  I love the versitility of the machine.

I would not give up either machine at this point as I use them both differently and for different reasons. If I were looking to buy one and not interested in designing my own files, I would certainly go with the Cricut. One thing to consider is that cartridges can get expensive. If others have an opinion, please post it here so others can get different points of views on both machines. Happy Day!!!!

It's cold today...

Hi. It is so cold here in Michigan today that I thought it would be a good time to cut some of the Pazzles Inspiration WPC Designs I have created. I have created over 180 designs so far and hope to sell them on CD's once I cut and test all of the cuts. I have had a couple of friends tell me that they have a hard time finding cute Thanksgiving items for scrapping so I created this little Pilgrim boy and girl. I thought turned out really cute. It has a lot of cuts but actually went together pretty easy. This one was cut at less than 4 inches in height. Thanks for looking.

Pazzles WPC File - Look of Love

I decided to post two WPC files to try help someone from the Pazzles Inspiration Yahoo Group. She is in need of some Pazzles layouts. Hope these help.

I created this layout for my 2007 album for pictures of me and my hubby. The font used for words is Action Is JL and the hearts were made using the heart shape in the Pazzles program. I seldom use patterned paper as I can never seem to figure out how to use it. I was pleased with how this one turned out.

Here is a picture of the Look of Love WPC file.

Pazzles WPC File - For Better or Worse

I created this layout using my Pazzles Inspiration machine in celebration of my in-laws 60th Wedding Anniversary. I used the font Tango BT and the Convert Text to Path feature in the Pazzles program. I changed the words in the cut file to be able to be more generic (note the picture of the WPC file below).

Pazzles WPC File - ATC Base Cut Files

I have participated in a couple of Artist Trading Card swaps recently and in doing so have created a WPC cut file to be used for the base cuts for the ATC cards. As the latest swap files have not been completed, I cannot post the picture yet of my ATC card. I will post the picture as soon as the swap is complete. Below you will find a WPC file that can be used to make the base cuts for ATC's.

Here is a picture of the WPC file.

DS Cut File - ATC Base Cuts - George & Plantin

I have been in a couple of swaps for Artist Trading Cards for scrapbooking and have created the following design as a Design Studio file to assist in the creation of the ATC's. Here is a picture one of my ATC cards that I used for the first swap. The card was created using Design Studio and the Home Accents cartridge. The Cut file posted below is for the Base cuts of the card and has been created in George. Included is a Cut file to create similar base cuts in Plantin Schoolbook.

Pazzles WPC File - Wallet Card

I decided to create a WPC file for the Wallet Card found in this post.... Enjoy!

DS Cut File - Wallet Card

I made this card this my daddy for Father's Day. Sadly, I lost my daddy on September 22. Daddy used to love to come over and see what my latest projects were. As I post this cut files through tears, I know daddy would be happy that I shared with you.

I was inspired through this video on You Tube. http://youtube.com/watch?v=0CJ3MuD9UZ8&feature=related.

I always seem to have a hard time finding masculine cards and I thought this one could be used for graduation, birthdays, etc. I used Design Studio to create the Cut file. To make the card I used brown DCWV 12 x 12 cardstock, Score-Pal to score the card for folding, Cuttlebug and Tiny Mosiac folder to emboss, inked and then glued together. The file has been created to work on 6 x 12 mat with individual cuts and added a full page of cuts using George 12 x 12 and Plantin 12 x 12.

DS Cut File - Exploding Box - George & PS

I found this link on the internet and loved her directions. I created cut files in Design Studio in both Plantin Schoolbook and George to go with her directions. Both George and PS are on the same cut file and are separated by a preview page. Enjoy!

Pazzles WPC File - Beach Word Book

I have decided to upload some of the Cricut Design Studio Cut and Pazzles WPC files I have created along the way. Below you will find four posts with Word Book cut files included. The Music & Surprise Books were created for a swap on the Cricut Members Board. They are flip-down albums.

I decided to try and create a word book using my Pazzles. The Beach book is what I came up with. The font used is Braddon.

DS Cute File - Surprise Word Book

The next one is a Surprise Word Book. I came up with the idea due to my Granddaughter turning 16 next month and her parents have gotten her a car (the gave the car to her early). I thought it would be cute to add a picture of a part of the car on each page and on the last page include a picture of the complete car along with the keys.
